Yep that’s right! We have decided to take ANOTHER gap year. We have justified this with our tough year of early mornings, exams, and long commutes… or what most people call ‘normal life’.

In order to prevent us from spending the whole year drinking buckets on a beach in Thailand we’ve come up with three main aims for our year:

  1. Time to grow – unfortunately, this is not physically, we’ve succumbed to the fact that we’ll always be nearer dwarf than elf. But we hope this will be a time to grow in relationship with one another and with God.

  2. Time to serve – it is through service that one realises there are bigger problems in life than Gail’s running out of seeded sourdough on a Saturday morning. We’re looking to serve the last, the least and the lost wherever we can, and remember the great privilege we live in.

  3. Time to adventure – this one really needs no explanation. My best man Birdy summed this up well though– “this really is your last chance to do all those things you’d love to do which will be impossible when kids come”.

Despite having had weeks to prepare and pack, it was precisely 5 minutes before our leaving time that Beth decided to re-organise her suitcase for the 4th time, and I decided to go for a run (to prevent blood clots!). Fortunately, our taxi driver (Cheshire Cabbies) showed the patience of a saint … thank you Pete.

16 hours, a brief stop over in Ethiopia, and many plane (plain) meals later we have arrived.

Let the fun begin!

At Heathrow T2!

And we're off!! Yesterday, we made it to the beautiful Cape Town.

We've got a couple of days here before heading up to Robertson (about 2hrs east of CT) for 4 weeks.

We so wanted some time out of the busyness of life this year - a chance to grow in relationship with God and one another, so we have signed up to The Father's House, a beautiful wine farm and discipleship school (part of Iris Ministries in Mozambique), where we're encouraged to switch off from phones, internet, social media and spend time away with the Father who knows us best.

We may be a little absent therefore, from making blog posts and sending photos for the next month, but we will keep you in the loop with our progress and adventures to come!

With love,

B&B x
